Bending, grinding - Bottom tree & Rear fork legs, cover legs...

Bottom tree (одна часть) почти готова, осталось её согнуть. 
Bottom tree (one part) is almost ready, it remains to bend it.


Не буду описывать те невероятные усилия что я затратил на то что бы согнуть в двух местах 
bottom tree при помощи походного газового баллончика, кувалды и настольных тисков - которые чуть не оторвал от стола! Понял что без газового резака ни чего не получится сделать, сталь в 5 миллиметров не поддаётся формовке без нагрева. 
I will not describe those incredible efforts that I spent on something that would bend in two places the bottom tree with the help of field gas can, sledgehammers and table clutches - which almost tore off from the table! I realized that without a gas torch will not do anything, steel 5 millimeters can not be bend without heating.





На дворе первый месяц зимы и внеплановая покупка кислородного баллона заставила немного затянуть пояс. Но делать не чего, хорошо что пропановый баллон, редуктора и сам резак были у моего знакомого. Так что, я ограничился заправленным кислородным баллоном на 40 литров.

Всё делалось в спешке на улице, хорошо что ещё не начались морозы но тем не менее было не просто. Сложности добавляли отсутствие нормального рабочего стола с тисками, короткий световой день и отсутствие опыта.

Пришло время для второй части bottom tree она делалась по той же схеме что и первая.

 Очередная примерка на мотоцикле вместе с sprung legs.

Rear fork legs полностью проварены. И как всегда предстоит кропотливая работа по шлифовке и зачистке.
Rear fork legs are fully welded. And as always, it will be hard for grinding and cleaning.


Когда нудный процесс шлифовки был закончен предстояло изготовить декоративные ЧЕХЛЫ для  rear legs, которые присутствуют у всех HD Springer forks. И вновь из за спешки и отсутствия лишнего времени я не сделал видео и фото полноценного процесса их изготовления. Использовав сталь толщиной 2 миллиметра (трёх миллиметровая сталь не поддаётся формовке без нагрева) что соответствует оригинальной толщине на моей  bottom tree от HD WLA. Делалось всё следующем образом. Вырезался прямоугольник (полоса) необходимого размера, прикладывалась к одной из сторон rear leg, зажималось в тисках, загибалось по форме rear leg повторяя её. Всё это делается руками с применением молотка, резинового или деревянного. Таких детали делается две штуки. Далее они свариваются по середине с двух сторон. А уже после нижняя часть ЧЕХЛА на rear leg отрезается под нужным вам углом (смотрите на видео отрезок от ЧЕХЛА на rear leg, который ещё не проварен полностью. Там всё достаточно понятно).
When the tedious grinding process was finished, it was necessary to make decorative COVERS for rear legs, which are present in all HD Springer forks. Again, due to the rush and lack of time, I did not make a video and photo of the full process of their production. Using steel 2 millimetres thick (three millimetre steel can not be molded without heating) that corresponds to the original thickness on my bottom tree from HD WLA. Everything was done as follows. Cut out a rectangle (strip) of the required size, applied to one side of the rear leg, clamped in a Vice, bent in the shape of the rear leg repeating it. All this is done by hands with a hammer, rubber or wooden. Such details is done in two pieces. Then they are welded in the middle on both sides. And after the lower part of the COVER on the rear leg is cut off at the desired angle (see the video segment from the COVER on the rear leg, which is not yet welded completely. Everything is quite clear there).




























После чего ЧЕХОЛ надевается на rear leg, и проваривается. Потом как обычно шлифуется и полируется. 
Then the COVER is put on the rear leg,and welded. Then, as usual, grinding and polished.





Теперь остаётся насладится результатом!

The "Zero Style" is the creation of famed bike builder Shinya Kimura, and it includes the use of low-positioned gooseneck frames to emphasizing the engine. This choice is subtly artistic, representing the change from the older, vintage styling to the more modern.
Each part was produced one-off with copper and brass to fit organically into the overall design. This choice is appealing to Japanese sensibilities and lifestyle, but the machine itself was still an American-born Harley Davidson.
Over time, "Zero Style" has earned a high reputation in the United States, despite the popularity of the new-school style. Zero bikes are different than the high-tech choppers equipped with fat tires, flashy graphics, and billet parts. Zero has received various awards including the championship at a Calendar Show in LA, awards in the Easy Rider Show, and distinctions at Grand National Roadster Show in California in 2004.
Zero Engineering created a custom Harley with the unique Japanese aesthetic for the Discovery Channel Program, "The Great Biker Build Off." One of their motorcycles was also used in the movie "Iron Man" and “Iron Man 2” further making the presence of "Zero Style" known not only in Japan, but worldwide.
As a response to the many fans looking for Zero Engineering's custom Harleys and or seeking a bike easy for beginners and riders of all sizes, Zero introduced the mass produced Road Hopper Models.
Zero Engineering created this model with their own springer forks and frames, by using various types of steel pipes with different diameters and thickness, to ensure the rigidity and riding comfort at the same time.
After extensive prototype tests, this was the birth of new, unique motorcycles crafted with the perfect balance of artistry and industrial beauty, like the gooseneck frame to emphasize the engine, and high reliability and stability.

1992
LZero Engineering was established in Okazaki City, Aichi, Japan as a division of PLOT to build custom-made vintage motorcycles.
2001
Type 1 and Type 2 prototypes were on exhibit at the Cool Breaker Custom Show.
2002
LPLOT USA Inc, ( dba Zero Engineering) was established in Las Vegas, NV, USA. The production of “Road Hoppers” began.
Mass-produced Type 1 and Type 2 models were exhibited at the Cool Breaker Custom Show.
2003
Motorcycle Development Center and Motorcycle Division were established.
Sales of Road Hopper Type 1 and Type 2 began.
2004
Sales of the Road Hopper Type 5 began.
Type 5 models launched with HD Evo and S&S Shovelhead engines.
After minor changes, the 2005 Type 1 and Type 2 models were launched.
2005
Shipping of the Type 5 Evo and Shovel begin.
2006
Minor changes are made in the Type 1 and Type 2, and sales of the 2006 models of these bikes begin.
2007
Development of the electronic fuel ignition system started.
